4 Essential Questions to Ask Movers When Hiring

There are so many different moving agencies out in the market. Some agencies specialize in specific areas for moving, some are better at packing than transporting, and some don’t even have the right licensing to be doing what they are doing. It is a very interesting market. When moving homes, some people like to pack themselves and move their things on their own to make sure that they arrive without damage or mistakes, but in some cases, there is either a want or a need to hire movers to help keep the process smooth and moving along. Thankfully, when looking into hiring movers, you are able to ask these people questions to see if they have the right qualifications and licensing to do what you need them to do.

Here are 4 essential questions to ask moving companies before hiring.

  1. Is your company licensed?

One of the most important factors in a moving company is if they will have the proper paperwork and licensing for them to be able to do what they do. In some cases, certain moving companies do not have a full arsenal of people to help move. It could just be one person or a part time company that doesn’t usually move homes. Making sure that the company you choose has the proper documentation will help ensure that your belongings are not damaged and that they are a company that can be trusted to help properly and successfully move your home.

  1. Are there any references from past customers that you can offer?

When given a list of references, it is easier to see if they are in fact a successful and trustworthy company when it comes to moving. Asking their past customers can help you distinguish if they are a good company and can provide all of the services that they state they do. Previous customers will be more brutally honest about the moving experiences than the company in some cases.

  1. How long have they been in business?

A length in which a company has been in business can show if they are truly successful or amatures in that area of moving. Companies that only have 1 or 2 years under their belt are trusted way less than companies that have 15 or 20 years under their belt. The longer that the company has been in business can also show how good they are in moving. Being in business longer means tons of people have moved successfully with no problems with their help.

  1. Has the company been previously operated as a contractor for a different business?

Companies will sometimes change their name to be a slightly similar name of a company that has great reviews to try and scam customers. When asking if they are associated with these people, you can see if their company is shady or not. If they seem shady in any way when responded, drop them as soon as possible.
